Abstract
In
this essay the writer try to analyze a drama, entitled The Importance
of Being Earnest written by Oscar Wilde.
The purpose of this writing is to analyze the upper class lifestyle of British
society in Victorian era reflected in the drama. Theory and methodology that will
be used to analyze this drama are close reading and textual theory. From analyzing
the drama, the writer presents upper-class that the upper-class society’s daily
life was important for maintaining their social status.

General Introduction
This program is for sophomore students of English Department, Diponegoro University. The forms of I-Learning for Literature in this program are I-Learning for Poetry, I-Learning for Prose, and I-Learning for Drama. In the first half semester, the students will be introduced to the theories of I-Learning for Literature and in the second half semester they will introduced to I-Learning for Studying and Teaching Poetry; I-Learning for Studying and Teaching Prose; I-Learning for Studying and Teaching Drama.
